I started with a Timex/Sinclair which wound up with 64K memory, on which
I was able to write a payroll program and an amortization program, since
the computer didn't seem to be able to handle the formula for amortization.
From there, I went big time, and bought a state of the art Commodore 64.
Used it for several years, too, and, using Commodore Basic, wrote a "jogging
program", which timed my runs, set my goal for the next run, congratulated
me when I did well, and chastised me when I didn't. It would adjust its
own expectations based on my performance. I was also able to rewrite the
payroll program that I used on the Timex/Sinclair..
My next upgrade came 2 months before the 486s came out. I bought a
386 with a 2400 BAUD modem. It has served its purpose. I wrote a bang up
budget program, which would adjust itself to my expenditures - and lost
it, too ((Some programs will erase the old file before they save the new
file).
I have to replace my budget program, preferably with the old data,
I want to do a "cookie jar" program (a prioritized "Honey do list"), and
I have to rewrite that jogging program.
Another thing that needs doing is to upgrade
this computer!
