Blueberries?

When I was a boy, each summer, my father would take us blueberry picking. He would give us each a 5 gallon bucket, and we would go into the woods , to an abandoned cranberry bog, and pick until we each had about a 1/2 bucket of berries. New these berries grew on bushes 6 to 12 feet tall, in clusters, so that the berries could be picked by the handful. For years, I would tell people about these berries (omitting location) and noone would believe me.

In 1995, I was at Alaska Greenhouses, when I saw a bush with familiar looking leaves. I stopped and looked at the bush - it had blue berries on it. I picked one - it looked like a blueberry - I ate it - it was a sweet delicious blueberry. I turned over the tag and it said "serviceberry"!

In 1996, I bought a serviceberry bush and planted it. The next year, I took 4 cuttings from that bush. But to date, I haven't had enough yield to make a batch of blueberry muffins.
